Children in Need is one of Connie’s favourite nights of the year. She loves the build up of it out and about and loves Pudsey Bear to bits. This morning she requested specially to put on her Pudsey onesie and Pudsey ears to go to college!
Her love of all things Children in Need started when Unique Kidz & Co received funding from the national charity. For those of you that don’t know, Unique Kidz & Co is an afterschool and holiday club for children with disabilities and their siblings. It has also recently branched out into providing daycare for young adults with disabilities at 4Ever Unique. The charity is amazing and helps over 150 children and their families – we would be lost without it and it just so happens that it was Connie’s mum and her friend Denise that set it up! (Don’t worry there will be lots more about Unique Kidz & Co coming on our blog but to find out more now head to their website here). Children in Need has provided funding for the last 6 years to Unique Kidz & Co so we always make sure we celebrate Children in Need day properly!
Last year, Connie’s day was made by being invited to go to Blackpool Tower on Children in Need night live on the TV for the North West show. She went along with her mum, Denise, Harry (Denise’s youngest son) and Connie’s friend Sarah and her mum. The group were interviewed live on TV and Connie sat beaming like a professional whilst we all proudly watched her from home. They all dressed up in Pudsey onesies and ears and got to meet the bear himself … it’s no wonder she is obsessed now!
Children in Need is a fantastic cause and we get to see firsthand in our own family the amazing charities it helps. Our plan for tonight as always, is to watch Children in Need as a family with our ears on and send in our donation! There will also be a section of tonight’s show about a young girl with Rett Syndrome so keep your eyes peeled to hear about her story… we definitely will be!
Weekend now for Connie so keep tuned to see what fun she can get up too!
